Central Missouri Optometric Society

The Central Optometric Society hosted our esteemed MOA president, Dr. Ryan Powell, for our April meeting. Dr. Powell was able to summarize MOA activities for the society and field questions from the membership about board certification and legislative pursuits.
Our May meeting was held in Jefferson City. Dr. Cable from Discover Vision provided a lecture on behalf of Ista Pharmaceuticals.
COS will take a break for summer activities in June but will meet again in July
Greater Ozark Optometric Society

We had our last GOOS meeting on May 18, before the MOA Leadership Retreat at the Lake of the Ozarks. Paul Yutesler from Rite Style sponsored the dinner and gave a presentation.
We will be taking our usual summer hiatus and plan on having out next meeting in August or September.
Kansas City Optometric Society

In May, we had an excellent presentation by Dr. John Gelvin on glaucoma.
In June, we will have our annual "thank you" BBQ for the Missouri legislatures from the Kansas City area.
We will not meet in July or August, but we will resume monthly meetings on September 13.

Southeast Optometric Society

The Southeast Optometric Society met on the third Wednesday of last month, May 19, at the Hickory Log restaurant in Dexter, MO.
The featured speakers were Al Hoppert with Vision Care Direct and Kerry Kisslinger with MoPEB Insurance Trust, the MOA sponsored employer health insurance plan for optometrist in Missouri. The plan has a variety of areas with the objective of helping employees live healthier lives and lowering healthcare costs. All MOA members are invited to attend any of our society meetings. St. Louis Optometric Society
The Saint Louis Optometric Society continues to meet monthly, the second Tuesday of the month, at the St. Louis Marriott West.
On February, 9, Inspire Pharmaceuticals sponsored "Treatment/Management of the Anterior Segment" presented by Sean Mulqueeny, OD.
On March 9, Ista Pharmaceuticals sponsored "Allergic Conjunctivitis: Diagnosis and Management" presented by Gregg Berdy, MD.
On April 13 TLC sponsored Dr. Sean Breit, MD, who presented "Lens-Based Refractive Surgery: New Options for the Patient."
On May 11, 2010 Vistakon hosted Robert Davis, OD, who discussed the advantages of daily disposable contact lenses followed by a presentation by Thomas Krummenacher, MD entitled "The Eye in Evolution."
The annual Installation and Awards Banquet will be held on June 8 at the Kemp Auto Museum.
The annual UMSL College of Optometry Corneal Classic was held on Saturday, April 17, at Normandy Golf Course was turned out to be a great success with perfect weather.
West Central Optometric Society

The West Central Optometric Society has not met since our last report; however, we will welcome current Missouri Optometric Association President, Dr. Ryan Powell, to our meeting on Tuesday, June 8, in Warrensburg for the annual MOA address and a question and answer session.
The West Central Society will also have elections at that time for next year's officers and award nominations.
