Short Line
Legislation

These are the bills of interest to MONA that have been filed to date by the Missouri General Assembly representatives and senators.

The first column indicates the bill number; HB stands for a House Bill; SB stands for a Senate Bill. The second column is the last name of the chief bill sponsor, and the final column is a brief description of the subject matter of the bill. To learn more about the status of a bill, click on the bill number; to learn more about the person sponsoring the bill, click on the legislator's name.

Some descriptions don't sound like they have anything to do with nursing. However, the subject matter could be amended to affect us. Consequently we will track all these bills.

Political Action Handbook Available

Optometry is a legislated profession, like it or not, defined by and existing at the pleasure of the Missouri legislature. The MOA has developed a "Political Action Handbook" explaining the legislative process. This handbook is designed to be a tool for Missouri ODs to help them meet their responsibilities to each other and to the profession each of us has chosen for our life's work.

The handbook tells how a bill becomes law and how to interact with your State Representative and State Senator. Contact the MOA office at 573/635-6151 or e-mail us at info@moeyecare.org for a copy of this helpful booklet.
